Dear Friends of Hwange,
April has been interesting and busy, as Mario has started his work on the boreholes in Hwange. This is going to be a huge project to start with, as most of the pumps and engines are not working and need to be repaired as quickly as possible before the rains stop completely. So far Mario has had a chance to look at 5 waterholes (Tsebe Tsebe, Jambili, Sinanga, Kennedy 1 & 2) and 4 out of 5 engines are currently being serviced by Friends of Hwange and National Parks. All pumps seem to be working well. Mario has also looked at the windmill at Kennedy 1 and will only need a few spares to get it up and running and should be in perfect working order next week (1st week of May). Now that Mario has had a good look at what we need, we will need to purchase spares and new engines in South Africa. From now on we will need your support more than ever and we would appreciate any donations in money or kind. If you wish to make a donation our bank details are at the bottom of this Newsletter. 


What we need:
This month again we are looking for several things and any help to acquire these items, whether by donation or a good price, will be greatly appreciated!

2. Over Head Gantry 
3. Different type of hoist slings 
4. Welding Machine

5. Oxy-Acetylene and Cutting Equip.
6. Set of Pipe Dies
7. 36”, 24” 18” Pipe Wrenches
8. 14LB and 4LBL Hammers
9. Assortment of Chisels
10. Wheel Barrows (2-3)
11. Picks and shovels (2-3)
12. A wooden shed to hold spares in Hwange


We will also be needing items to repair the pumps and engines, such as steel rods, couplings, galvanised pipes, bolts & nuts, spring washers, jubilee clips, galvanised nipples, engine oil, oil filters etc. If you are able to help in cash, kind or providing material at cost we would be extremely grateful!
