Issue No 8. September 2006 Dear Friends of Hwange,
The heat has arrived and the water is evaporating rapidly in Hwange. We are now running the engines 24 hours. Mario is now in Hwange most of the time, refilling the engines and doing minor repair work. Thank you again to all our donors for your support. Without you the situation in Hwange would be dire. Thanks to you the Park is doing great! A
very big thank you to Johnny Rodrigues, from the Zimbabwe Conservation
Task Force delivered 17500 litres of diesel to Hwange
National Park. UNIFREIGHT
provided the tanker and
Johnny collected the fuel in Bulawayo and delivered 10 000 litres
to National Parks and the balance to Mario for our 10 pumps. Thank
you also to Paul Kersten at Mansed for providing the diesel at
cost price! There
has been a delay with the windmills and they will now be arriving in
Hwange in mid-October. So I am sure the next issue will be full of
news and pictures of the installation of the Poldaw windmills. Thank
you to National Parks for providing accommodation at Main Camp and
helping wherever they can! We
are still looking for a bits and pieces for National Parks.
They require a few items for their White Rhino Monitoring and
please remember that every little bit helps!
